The Ibero-American Design Biennial (BID), an initiative developed by the Design Centre, Madrid Design Foundation and Madrid Designers’ Association (DIMAD), seeks in this second edition to highlight the social aspects of design and convey the connection of design and designers to the development of Ibero-American countries; participants are from a total of 23 countries, with more than 400 designers from Latin America, Portugal, and Spain.

During this second Ibero-American Design Biennial an award was also given to the set of luminaires at the Prieta Beach Club as one of the best product designs for promoting human development. This product was also chosen for exhibit at the Cultural Center of Sao Paulo, Brazil, together with the best Ibero-American Biennial works for 2008, 2010, and 2012.
